2023 E-File to start January 23rd, 2023

Jan 12, 2023

The IRS has announced that it will start accepting 1040 returns for the 2022 tax season on January 23rd, 2023.

They also announced April 18th is the deadline for individual returns. By law, Washington, D.C., holidays impact tax deadlines for everyone in the same way as federal holidays. The due date is April 18, instead of April 15, because of the weekend and the District of Columbia’s Emancipation Day holiday, which falls on Monday, April 17.

The official release from the IRS is here.
